A Landmark Initiative in West Africa
The José A. Centeno International Center on Medical Geology (JACMEDGEO) is a national research and training center located at Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) in Nigeria. Established through the leadership of Prof. Mohammed Suleiman (NSUK Vice-Chancellor) and inspired by the legacy of Dr. José A. Centeno, one of the pioneers of medical geology, JACMEDGEO is the first institution in West Africa fully dedicated to this field.
Mission and Vision
JACMEDGEO is committed to advancing interdisciplinary research that links geology, public health, and environmental science. Under the guidance of Dr. Nghargbu K’tso, the center develops programs to assess and mitigate health risks from natural and anthropogenic geological exposures—such as mining, dust inhalation, and trace element imbalances in soils and water.
